What is a Verification Code?

A verification code is a type of password that is valid for only one use. We will send you a verification code via text message to your registered mobile number to verify your identity when you are signing in, or to confirm an instruction by you such as a password change.

You do not need to remember this verification code. A new one will be sent by text message each time to confirm an instruction by you.


What will the Verification Code text message say?

The Verification Code text message 'from' name/number will show 'STATESAVING'. The text message will always take the following format:

{6-digit number} is your verification code for Ireland State Savings Online e.g.
“123456 is your verification code for Ireland State Savings Online”

Ireland State Savings will never send you text messages that contain links.

Ireland State Savings will never send specific details of your Ireland State Savings holdings by text message.

Any customer receiving such text messages should delete them from their phone, and contact us immediately.

How long is the Verification Code I receive by text message valid for?

A verification code expires after 10 minutes. You do not need to remember this code after you have used it. A new one will be sent by text message each time.

What if I did not receive the Verification Code or the Code expires?

If you did not receive the Verification Code or it expires, you can request a new one by clicking the ‘Resend code’ link and following the steps.

Before requesting to resend the Code:

  • Allow 1-2 minutes for the code to be sent

  • Check you are using the correct mobile phone registered with your online account

  • Make sure there are no network issues in your area
